the brand seat is going to be dumped; they're pivoting to the cupra brand. seat sat alongside skoda (and skoda have been slowly becoming more premium in price over the years).

The whole auto industry sub brand thing is a huge window into our petty perceptions. My car is a Citroen that's made my Toyota that costs less than a Toyota because of what people believe even though it's the same car from the same factory. UTM has a Skoda that costs less than a VW that is made...

the place my niece went to school (mount sackville near castleknock) operates a primary and secondary school. they announced a few weeks ago that they'd start accepting boys in the primary school in september. bit of a last minute scramble for school places happening in castleknock at the moment...

I have never seen a man hit a girl - but I know it happens. Minor level violence between lads doesn't cause much long term trauma in my experience. Usually when I talk about childhood bullying I almost always mean adults. It was institutionalised that adults had a lot of unquestioned power...

Just checked, thankfully this isn't the case (unless I looked it up wrong). 524 mixed secondary schools, 95 boys and 119 girls.

    New music for 2024

In fairness that's true of a huge amount of music. Free improvisation, punk, ambient, atonal modern composition, disco, funk, turntable-ism, rap.... I could go on. All over 50 years old but still great when done well.

@nuke terrorist an awful lot of secondary schools are still gender segregated - maybe even most? At least in the towns I know (Navan, Drogheda, Wexford) most of them are

are you talking physical violence here? or bullying more generally. I went to mixed schools all the way up not sure of your schooling but physical violence between boys was normalized to the extent that very little was done unless some one was battered to the point of hospitalization and...

I thought it a fair question as sport was brought into it, and he mentioned 'Locker room'. I don't think thats what he meant either but would appreciate the clarification.

There are lessons to learn from how Irish (men especially) were raised only a few decades ago. - gender segregated schools. - corporal punishment which could be brutal. I know a man born in 1950's who had his nose broken twice at primary school by the same teacher. The teacher, now dead, was...

I don't want to step across anyone here - but I took from this an acknowledgement that male and female bodies are quite different - which is an objective truth, and it really matters in various circumstances - and yes, it can be life or death, sometimes even in sport (see boxing, which is why...

It’s some manner of division/subsidiary of Volvo. A relative worked for polestar for a while and they were VERY keen not to be associated with Volvo.

No I've always think it's a bit on the nose. We already know they like the band, cause they're at the gig. What I love seeing are peoples old weird / unusual band T-shirts at gigs.
