Right so quick guide: the Amp output should be lower ohms than the speakers. 4ohm output into 8 ohm speakers is safe. 8 ohm output into 4 ohm speakers can make for fuses popping,excessive heat or worse Power amp failure.

get someone qualified to check it. likely scenario. Fan stopped because of component failure temperature rose in the amp and the power stage transistors overheated and cooked. The fact that is went quiet indicates that the unit ran on half of the transistors for a while before dying...
