What movie did you watch last night? (8 Viewers)

I picked this up in a charity shop many moons ago. It's based on the TV series of the same name. Probably a bargain in every sense of the word if I ever get around to reading it and doing a little price-wise cooking

Also a noted cookery writer.

Saw The Raid. Savage! Similar to The Horde in more than one aspect. A bit kung fu crazy though when you stop to think about it. How could anyone take so many blows and still remain standing? But don't think about it, just enjoy.

The French Connection.

A true classic in every way. It looks great, the actings great, the directings great, the pace is perfect, the music is great it's grittier than a mint you get out of the bottom of your grannies purse, it is the perfect hard as coffin nails cop thriller. Basically it's the 2 hour 1970s equivalent of The Wire. Utterly brilliant. Should be seen by everyone who ever picked their feet.

Absolutely love that movie. Friedkin was very briefly the best director in the world at the start of the 70s. Better than FFC if you ask me.

Scott Adkins (who you may remember from being really good at kicking people in Undisputeds II and III, or possibly not kicking people in Holby City) is stranded some place in the Mexican arse end of nowhere with a bag of money. Various people including Christian Slater want said bag. Perfectly watchable but nothing super amazing.

(also, that's one of that taglines that make no sense. He never was in Acapulco, he just says he's going there a few times followed by an umbrella / postcard wipe.)

or OUR DAY WILL COME in these parts. Road movie where Vincent Cassel and Olivier Barthelemy (one of the kids in Sheitan, bit parts in other Cassel films) go on a bit of a rampage because no one understands them and they have red hair or something. Also they're heading for Ireland where everyone has red hair and will think they're great. It's good anyway.

Battleship.

Funny (not intentionally).
It's hard to believe that this is the same guy that directed the film Friday Night Lights

Poor Taylor Kitch, you sign up for 2 potential blockbusters and end up with two colossal blots on your copybook. And to add insult to injury the Navy make you cut your hair and everybody realises you actually aren't that good looking after all.

Men In Black 3. Good, funny. Effects work well. a few new interesting aliens especially in the Chinese restaurant. Saw it in 2D. Josh Brolin makes a deadly younger Tommy Lee Jones.

I'm gonna write a film called something like "RESPECT: THE COLLINA STORY" and cast bald Vincent Cassell in the lead role

Resistance: Life in an occupied Welsh valley after the d-day landings fail and Britain is invaded. This is one S - L - O - W movie. Stars that German from Game Of Thrones and has Michael Sheen in it for about 5 minutes, tops. Doesn't really go anywhere but watchable all the same.

Safe House - 90 minutes of shooting, chasing, batterings & brendan gleeson. Can't complain, really

Hysteria - one for the ladies, in many ways. Funny enough.

Prometheus. Disappointing.

Loved the opening sequence; a Man That Fell to Earth meets 20001 : A Space Odyssey vibe

the the humans came out of suspended animation and the movie went downhill from there
