Hi, I’m bringing out a new tune in a few weeks time and I was going to do it as a fundraiser for Pieta House, but after reading some stories about how they’ve been operating over the course of the pandemic and specifically how they’ve treated staff, I’m not sure I feel overly comfortable about handing money over to them.

Can anyone here recommend a good charity that’s working either in the area of mental health or addiction services?

Right, doing another charity fundraising event bit of madness. We're going to do a 24km hike over the Dublin Mountains next Sunday to try and raise some money for Barretstown.

Barretstown run residential camps for children with a serious illness, offering a range of adventurous and challenging activities and supported behind the scenes by safe, medical attention and care – always for free. Pretty wonderful bunch.

Anyway, my goal is a trifling 100 euro, go for it!

Barretstown also do camps for siblings of children with serious illnesses, a leadership program for kids who’ve previously attended a camp (highly recommended by our kid), and a bereavement camp for families that’s way more fun than it sounds. All free.

Donated.

One last time for good luck, if you're tired of all that money burning a hole in your pocket, donate it to Barretstown!

In return, I will hike and most likely get lost in the Dublin mountains this weekend, never to be heard of again. Great for spam relief.
