Hey all, I don't wanna offend any Galway folk on here, but I'm just wondering if scummy thuggery is standard fare for a friday night in Eyre square?
Do you guys have to put up with it all the time, or might there have been anything special about last weekend?
I doubt the people I'm thinking of are big into sailing...

Eyre Square can get a bit lively at times but generally galway doesn't have it as bad as other cities., Patrick street in cork is worse. That's not to say there isn't a fair share of scobes out for a bit of bovver. I don't know if there was trouble at the boat thing on the weekend, all i saw were collapsed bodies all round and deranged scary woman, oh and i saw an irish woman call an austrailian woman rascist because she said Irish "curry" was shit..

I think the Volvo race has brought a lot of scumbags to Galway but usually it's alright. Hang around Eyre Sq after midnight and usually every dick head 25 year old has a drink on them and thinks they're tough.

There's always drunken fuckwits hanging around at the weekends, especially in the Square. There was an excessive amount around last weekend for the boat yoke so the chance of trouble was higher than normal. What happened ya? Mugged?

If you were around for the weekend you should have given us a shout for cans...

Na, not me - my brother. He just moved up there that day, and on his way to meet his girlfriend he was giving a fight a wide berth, but some cunt broke free of the melee to go over and knock him down and kick the shit out of him. I think he broke his fall with his face cos half his teeth are gone and his jaw is broken in 3 places. The cops are, apparently, "on the case".
He's grand though - doped up on morphine and ketamine at the moment, he still has every intention of coming to see us when we're up there in two weeks, the mad bastard

Thought it might be something like that... I just don't know what goes on in some peoples heads.
I remember being attacked once years ago by a couple of little kids (well about 14 or 15 anyway) who basically kicked me around the ground until they got bored (I figured the foetal position was my friend ). The freaky thing about it was that they hardly stopped laughing the whole time. That just blew my mind.

think he was fairly unlucky. supermacs, eyre square can be a rough at certain hours of the night. i witnessed a load of fights in cork last year and i thought what the fuck is up with this place. but people assured me it wasn't always that ridiculous
