So, don't know if 'punx' counts as a political ideology or activist allegiance as that would involve not being apolitical and inactive. :p But what's going on with Locomotiv Eirecore?

If nothing else it'll be the chance to inflict physical injury upon hippies, activists, anarchists, etc. Unfortunately (or fortunately ;) ) there's no clowns. :) And its for a good cause.

Holy shit that's incredible. It's fucking amazing that people would allow Eirigi to enter that tournament.
I'd be up for playing except that I would never EVER play in a tournament that bunch of fucking wankers are playing in. Fucking cunts. If I ended up playing against them, I would do a Samuel Eto'o, except I wouldn't come back on the pitch.
It's actually fucking disgraceful that any of the other groups there will play with the Eirigi team in that competition.
FUCK THEM.

Eirigi - http://www.eirigi.org/

Dissident Republican group opposed to British presence in Northern Ireland. Formed with the aim of a United Ireland specifically in mind.
In my book this makes them against the peace agreement that was formed in Northern Ireland (I don't believe they can deny that) as that agreement facilitates British oversight in Northern Ireland.
What the Irish government would do with N.I that the British government wouldn't seems to be rather unexplained though (what is the point of a United Ireland?).
If they are against the peace agreement then they would have preferred a continuation of armed struggle, which means more people dying for fuck all.
In my opinion their politics are utter fucking shit, these people are living in the past. Lots of people in Northern Ireland are trying to move on from the sectarian divisions that have blighted the country, fuckwits like this only exist to create divisions in their selfish efforts to grasp power.
FUCK THEM.

ah yeah i know who they are just wondering if you had a particular gripe from personal experience.

"If they are against the peace agreement then they would have preferred a continuation of armed struggle, which means more people dying for fuck all."

but for what its worth i don't agree with this (not in terms of Eirgi but) in general i know lots of people who didn't vote yes for the agreement but who also had no interest in seeing the armed struggle continued.

Where did you stand on the Provos/Officials?
Or the 'Ra from the earlier campaigns? (including the border campaigns)
Even the 1916 lot?

éirígí has adopted a green star as its emblem. The green star incorporates both the national colour of Ireland in the colour green and the international symbol of socialist struggle in the star.

actually the national colour is blue

I'll not delve into the historical side of things as that is a much more complex issue requiring quite a lot of time to go through, but as for the modern day version of what the IRA has become, they are just scum, pure and simple. In fact since the end of the troubles they have just become a mafia-like criminal organisation, still involved in all sorts of non-political petty crime.

Basically, early on they were a more idealistic organisation, and with Ireland's history going back it could be understandable how people supported them. But over the course of the Troubles in Northern Ireland they have moved further and further from any kind of imagined morality and now they are just a bunch of criminals and thugs.

I just asked boss.
Reason why was that every generation of the 'Ra has been slagged off and only appreciated years later.
Although I get where you're coming from, INLA in Dublin is perfect example of how you describe the continuity/Real.

i like their early stuff best first few seven inches were class but they should have called it a day earlier
i didn't like the last few releases at all and now that they hooked up with the major label they've turned to complete shite.
as for their side projects didn't really get in to any of them at all

still ive no interest in seen any shitty cover bands trying to recreate the ealry days.

the logic there doesn't really make sense, the aim of Sinn Fein is a United Ireland, yet they are still involved in the post GFA process. Just because eirigi are not pro GFA (and many of them were until recently, when they came to the conclusion that the GFA was not an adequate tool to advance the Republican agenda) doesn't mean they are not pro peace. Everybody is pro peace aren't they ? it's just some believe peace can't be actually attained until the occupation has been removed. But I've not seen anywhere that eirigi are in favour of armed resistance at this point in time, maybe you could show me if I've missed it. Being a Republican, even one who doesn't support the GFA, doesn't equate to living in the past, nor does it equate to wishing to see a continuation of armed resistance, a lot of currently unaligned Republicans, many who spent the best years of their lives on the run or in gaol have no wish to see a return to those days, the vast majority of Republicans share that view. I disagree with the decison the people involved in eirigi took to remove themselves from Sinn Fein, they are in the main solid and capable activists and could have served the Republican project far better had they stayed, but there is no point getting rabid about it and painting them as something they are not.

just one last point, eirigi have been to the fore with the Shell To Sea campaign, it's be a bit silly to let them dedicate so much time to activism on the issue and then ban them from kicking a ball around a park. no ?

that omagh release was brutal. totally lost faith in them after that.

The actions of groups like Eirigi (and indeed Sinn Fein) are aimed only at deepening divisions in Northern Ireland. This will only result in more hatred and violence in the future. They are both contemptible organisations.
