Totally not cool to say but I think I like Loaded the best, I know he ended up stealing the band but the Doug Yule songs on it are lovely.

This was the first album I ever bought by them. I'd heard stuff like White Noise/White Heat before and was expecting some sort of noise rock thing. Took me a while to warm to because of that. Wasn't expecting tunes and melodies and the like

I had that album for years before I even knew Doug Yule existed! Thought it was just Lou on a hash buzz rather than a heroin buzz. It's only in the last couple of years that I copped that he was also lead vocals on "She's My Best Friend". Must be the genes. Love it though.

I think I prefer Room On Fire to Is This It although neither would get more than an 8 from me. I can only imagine how bad some of the later ones are.

Years ago, when it was just released, I spent a truly great night in the Foggy Dew with a girl I was mad about. They were playing Is This It on full blast for what seemed like the whole night. The endorphins were flying. Probably plays a part in my feelings for it. They promised so much.... like herself. Ha!

I'll always have fond memories of Idlewild for a similar reason.

Strokes wise my sister got me a ticket for the instantly sold out show at the olympia for either christmas or my birthday I can't remember which, it was just after Is This It was released , she knew the staff in ticketmaster in the Square, which was mad handy at the time. I wasn't mad about them but they were absolutely brilliant live. They actually played for less time than the support band which I've never seen done before or since. There were people paying €300 for tickets outside and they were only on stage for about 40 minutes. After that I couldn't take that album seriously, if just seemed flat in comparison. The exact opposite of Interpol.

Speaking of which,

Idlewild:

Captain - 8
Hope is Important - 9
100 Broken Windows - 9
The Remote Part - 6
Warnings/Promises - 4
Make Another World - ???
Post Electric Blues - ???

Like everyone I stopped listening once they tried to move on into rubbish rock.

Roddy's solo stuff is decent though
