======================================================
Martin Finke makes a welcome return to Galway when he plays at
Richardsons in Eyre Square on Wednesday April 14th. Though born in Germany, Finke is a Cliften native at heart, and stints in Spain and the states have fuelled his songwriting. While living in Boston in 1998, he bought a used four-track and started recording and building up a live following, playing often alongside his friend Josh Ritter. Martin has also shared stages with Katell Keineg, Glen Hansard and Mark Eitzel, and has released three and a half home-recorded albums. His full-length studio debut “Untended Stories” appeared on the Parallel Music imprint in April 2003, featuring cameo’s from members of the Redneck Manifesto and The Dudley Corporation. Finke has featured on the first “Other Voices: Songs From A Room” TV series and album while he also appears on the Ruby Sessions compilation CD. “In a country riddled with over-rated singer-songwriters who dance to the beat of their backs being slapped, we should treasure the lyrical inventiveness of Martin Finke”(notes from the end of the underground). Doors are at 9p.m. and admission is just four euro.
