I remeber reading about something like that in Wired about two years ago.. Was about Wind-up laptops then but it was nearly exactly the same design.
 
Did an internship in media lab - they were very into making sure the kids know computers and technology stuff. They used to make deadly toys.
 
well thats it- d'ye not think the thing is more of a toy than a computer, would they not be better off investing in something bit more constructive like actual computer in schools?

The physical aspect of it is cool if it keeps it cheap to make and run. It looks pretty sturdy and most importantly it's mobile. But I do think they really should have a proper OS on it.
 
$150 is not practical for anyone in the developing world.
 
They're just going to use them to look at porn on the internet.
No! jesus, the rest of Africa has untapped SPAM power. wait till someone writes a script to zombify these machines, there will be emailing flying out the door.
