Has anyone any recommendations for a decent hotel in Paris? I'll be there for 6 nights with my lady so would like something half decent.

Cheers guys.

i stayed in hotel du suede a few months ago and it was really nice - tea in silver teapots and everything. the area is really quiet, too - you're close to several metro stations but it's not noisy at night, unlike everywhere else i've stayed in paris. the room wasn't huge but it was fine.

that said, not air-conditioned, and i don't know that our window opened that far - bit of a consideration this time of year.

cheers for that. turns out it will be for 7 nights so if i can get somewhere for around 80-90 a night, it would work out better for me.

Comfort Hotels are usually good value - not superfancy or anything though - friends of mine stayed in the Comfort Hotel Andre Latin - 52 RUE GAY LUSSAC, and got a great deal on a twin room. It's in the Latin Quartier - great location close to Jardin de Luxembourg, Pantheon, etc. http://www.hotel-andrelatin.com.

Check out: http://www.parishotels.com/ if you haven't already.

I however stayed in a shithole on Boulevard St. Michel called Hotel des Mines. Don't go there.

Decent little hotel on Rue Lepic in Montmartre http://www.hotel-prima-lepic.com/ - near some good bars and venues (La Fourmi, La Boule Noir, Eleysee Montmatre etc.), 15 mins walk from Galeries Lafayette (shopping area), 5 minutes walk from Sacre Couer (very romantic) and some good cheap little cafes and restaurants nearby. It's 2 mins from Metro Blanche and near the Moulin Rouge. Parts of the area are noisy but this street is just away from that enough to be quiet and close enough to be in the middle of it all. Have stayed here a few times and have always found it very safe too.

Otherwise you'll find some decent (and reasonable) hotels here... http://www.astotel.com/en

I found Pigalle TERRIFYING! Random screaming punters and dive-bombing pigeons. Eeek!

There is a class wee hotel called hotel camile (spelling might not be right) that is just beside place de la republique. Its run by a few indian guys and is good and cheap ,though there might have been some sort of deal on when i was there. In a class little area near a good few bars and resteraunts on rue de la republique and a big metro station with loads of lines.

I got a great deal from hotels-connect.com two christmases ago. Right between the Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysees. Small, but very cute. Can't remember what exactly it was called unfortunately. I want to say Etoile was in the name but I'm not positive. Check the site though, it was good. Also, whatever you do, look into ratings on multiple sites before you make reservations, because I've heard some stories about shady joints.
