"Wouldn't it be nice" by Brian Wilson is a mental read. The end part reeks of the sinister psychologist guy though..

Yep, that's a great one. Also 'Shakey' Neil Young's biography.
Zep rule. was watching the dvd the other night. When I build my time machine I'm heading straight to 1973.

I feel like a bore saying this again but.. "the Dirt" by Motley Crue is amazing.

"the dirt" is awesome. I bought "crazy from the heat" by david lee roth, but could only read a few pages, it was too awful.

the new don arden book is pretty classy... fuckin ELO..

I reckon the best "rock biog" if thats the apropriate term has gotta be "shiboleth" by penny rimbaud of crass.. anyone read it?

Penny Rimbaud one sounds interesting, must check it out - the two best (or at least the funniest) rock biogs I've read are "Papa John" (John Philips from Mamas n Papas) and "Head On" (Julian Cope) which are both riveting. But I haven't read "Hammer..." but shall soon...

i alswo whole heartedly wreckommend 'burrowing fwor shiny metal twoad hats: the Kinky John story', a thouroughly engwossing wread that outlines my many exploits in the early days as a scout leader in the infamous 135th troupe, otherwise known as 'the ravenblades', all the ways up through the years through my invention of the fwiring hamsterbean, to the lwater years, when my ffaculties began to leave me and i became vwerwy verwry incontinent. To the point of dehydwration. ackhm. available to buy in shops. or pm me for order detialsh

stick with Diamond Dave's book maan,it does get better than just the early stuff...surprised you didn't like it.

For the record there are 2 great music books for 6snots each in chapters at the mo'.the Lester bangs anthology psychotic reactions and carburettor Dung and this really good book about essentially this one guy and the whole minstrel phenomenon in American Music by Nick Tosches called Where Dead Voices Gather.Doesn't sound too innaresting I know by the way I've described it but it is a fantastic book.

I couldnt get into that book either (Crazy from the heat)...he's an interesting character for sure but he writes in a kind of hipster speak that annoyed the hell outta me...and he doesnt give much away about groupies + the excesses etc ala The Dirt & Hammer OTG ...

I was also surprised that I didn't like it. generally speaking the bigger the cunt, the better the biography...

I gotta say, Im really diggin this vandals in iraq/ grief from european anarchists business
http://kungfurecords.com/html/joesreport.htm

Please Kill Me is a good starting point for Iggy in his heyday hedonistic schtik. Should be in stock in chapters or waterstones.

great book.stole it from a friend last year couldnt put it down

Wonderland avenue by danny sugarman (died recently)
our band could be your life[/QUOTE]

For all you smiths fans ..Morrissey & Marr: The severed alliance is well worth a look...as is songs that saved your life altho its not really a biog.
