Ah it is what it is. Heavily gated distortion. Probably sounded huge in the room, but it does sound gack there.

Anytime I saw Pantera the guitar sound was pretty great.

I've never heard the "glam" era Pantera,but I'd imagine it would be a hello of a lot better than the later "trying to sound hard" era.

I've always considered them one of the worst bands I've ever heard,and they also have one of the worst guitar sounds and worst drum sounds ever recorded. Really baffles me how even people with no taste can like them,never mind people who usually have taste.

Totally disagree Gary. Vulgar display is one of the best metal albums I can think, up there with 80's metallica, beneath the remains ect... IMHO. I love cowboys from hell & far beyond drive as well.
Dime was one of the best metal guitarists out there.

The glam metal image is quiet funny. Never heard any of it.

pantera were for a time amazing.

the glam stuff is a bit annoying.

they defo arent in the same thrash bracket as 80's metallica, but equally potent. i think they called power groove metal or something.

When metallica lost it in the 90's, there was Pantera & Sepultura. To lead the "a" metal bands.
