Hi, this is a fundraiser gig for the new Lie Ins album, which is to be released this year on Popical Island. (Lie Ins is Mike and Ruan from Groom.) All bands are playing for free, which we're very grateful for.
GROOM
----------
Mike, Wil, Jeroen and Ruan, they have released three albums to date: ‘All This Happened, More Or Less’, ‘At The Natural History Museum’, and ‘Marriage’, played loads of gigs all over Ireland, even done a short tour in Belgium in early 2010, and in the UK in 2011. And they take part in the Popical Island collective.
‘poetic, heartfelt, genre-bending pop’ - State.ie
'exuberant, creative, literate' - Alternative Ulster

GINNELS
------------
Sort of a popical supergroup, are Ginnels, featuring members of Grand Pocket Orchestra, No Monster Club and Squarehead. Just as well then that they feature a super songwriter in Mark Chester. In the words of Mark, Ginnels are "like your dickhead neighbour drowning out your Byrds and Feelies records with his poorly recorded noise 'jams' with his stoned mates, except actually good," Ginnels are a curious and brilliant live band with fantastic songs. A double album will be released this year in association with Popical Island.

BIG MONSTER LOVE
---------------------------
Cormac McCanney, aka Big Monster Love released a brilliant album in 2010 with Popical Island called "Game Over" that will make you laugh and cry (often simultaneously). In his own words: "Big Monster Love is the nom de guerre of a disgruntled North Dublin anti-folk pop merchant. He’s been plying his sordid musical wares around this island these last 5 or so years. He cites as influences the Dubliners, CFTPA, Eels, John Prine, Half Man Half Biscuit, and Randy Newman. In 2011 he released his debut album, “Game Over” on Abomination/Popical Island to minimal acclaim." (not true, everyone thought it was deadly)
