The craziest science fiction movie i have ever seen.. watched it with jetlag last night and had some intense dreams

does anyone know if it's based on a true story?

Anyway, this thread is about the version that Jodorowsky was trying to make.. ten hours long, Dali, H. R. Giger all with a soundtrack by Pink Floyd

crazy

anyway, i love the David Lynch version too

The planet Arrakis, known as Dune
Land of Sand
Home of the Spice, Melange
The Spice controls the Empire
Whoever Controls Dune controls the Spice

The emperor has proposed a challenge to each of the houses:

"the house that produced the most spice will control Dune
there are no set territories and no rules of engagement"

vast armies have arrived

Now 3 houses fight for control of Dune
The Noble Atreides
The Insidious Ordos
and the Evil Harkonnen

Only one house will prevail
Your battle for dune begins

yeah i really like the lynch movie too
few do

yeah, i got the extended version on region 1
i wanted to watch the original a couple of times before i gave it a go though
and it's a film you really need to watch a couple of times

it's a bit of a mess of a film.. way too ambitious to fit into two hours
but there's something so fucked up about it that makes it amazing

the effects, music, costume and production on Dune are fucking amazing. i love the 3rd stage Guild Navigator at the start, with the mouth like a ladies front-toilet. we even sampled him on one of our tunes.

and what a cast. stewart, prochnow, von sydow, sean young, stockwell etc. etc.

ARRAKIS. DUNE. DESERT PLANET.

I've that on the Amiga 1200. I never could fully get into real-time strategy games, was too much of a slowcoach.

bizzaro, Dune has been sitting a-top my DVD player for weeks now

every so often I sit down and go "okay, tonight" but then I ussually wuss out

it's like flash back to seeing it when I was 12 and blocking it all out and I'm scared of just how mental and confusing it's going to be...

the first three books are deadly.
the film is way less confusing if you've read the books but also less enjoyable, in fact i'd recommend watching the film first. Lynch's visual style is way better than any thing our* puny imaginations can come up with.

hated the tv minseries
