Boycott Gypsy Rose (1 Viewer)

Layout - shite. Decor - shite. Sound set-up - shite. Pillars in the middle of the floor - check. Bands have to finish so shit 'club' can start afterwards - check. Jukebox which actually keeps playing over bands' sets - check.

FUCK. THIS. SHIT.

Fucking shittest venue in Dublin, and that takes some doing

Ask me bollix. I've been putting gigs on for 30 years, during recessions and during boom times and I have yet to find a venue as flexible to deal with, in fact they had even underwritten the guarantee for mdc because it was going to be so expensive to do. We have run 3 gigs there since it was changed and the sound has been great everytime. So theres a pillar??? Stand beside it then, not behind it. Fuck you and your boycott, how fuckin dare you act like the third reich and tell people not to go there just because you don't like it.

Hahaha, the boycott thread was a way at having a laugh at Janer's 'boycott the Roisin Dubh' thread!
As for the Gypsy Rose - the sound is grim because of the terrible layout and crap equipment, the bands have to finish in time for a shit club, and apart from anything else, looking at the place is actually painful on the eyes. It's a fucking shit venue, pure and simple. A rather large amount of people seem to agree, too. I would perhaps consider boycotting the place, except for the fact that I have no intention of setting foot in there again if I can avoid it!

You like the place because you get your way in it. It's easy for you, pure and simple. Open your eyes, people aren't happy.

I've played a couple of shows ther that were well recieved. And the Fag Enablerz tore the place apart no problem.I reckon its alright!

This might be corroborated on here by Willie Willions but I think they had a pretty shitty time with who ever they were dealing with in there...
I've had to go a couple of times to pick stuff up after gigs and some of the bar staff are right ignorant cunts.

That being said, I've enjoyed any gig I've played there, it's not the worst venue by a long shot and the only time
I've noticed bad sound was the first time Complan played there, but that was ages ago. Never really heard sound
being bad in comparison to most other venues that host punk gigs.

My biggest gripe with the place would be that it was the scene of the start of the last bender I ever went on.

The details arent really pertinent Gommo old chap.Although it could be said that GAZ 3.0 was born of that event.
