Hi, I have an 11 year old son and I want to get him an electronic drum kit for Christmas. He has lessons on an acoustic kit at school but wants to be able to practice at home.
I know nothing about electronic drums so I want it to be reasonably easy to set up
My budget is a maximum of £250 I've looked at the

Thomann
Millenium MPS-100 E-Drum Starter Set - Thomann UK

Gear for music
Digital Drums 402 Starter Electronic Drum Kit Package Deal at Gear4Music.com

Amazon
Axus Digital AXK2 Digital Drum Kit: Amazon.co.uk: Musical Instruments

I'd really appreciate any advice and help you can give me on which would be the best option or any other option I should go for.

If he's anything like my other children and their musical instruments, he'll lose interest after about a year. So however much a much more expensive one might be justified, firstly I don't have the money and secondly he may not stick at it.

Many thanks in advance

Get him a proper drum kit. You'll easily get a decent one within your budget.

Put up with the noise.

Be a great parent.

Save rock n roll.
Theres NO unemployed drummers

If you can stretch the budget a bit go for mesh heads rather than rubber pads. They feel more like the real thing. I hate playing pads for long and find my wrists get sore.
