Private Underground Residence
Exploding onto the Cork scene many moons ago, Private Underground Residence left bits and pieces of their music all over peoples suspecting and increasingly avalanched ear drums.  PUR embrace everything from various genres, and even though their sound is unique, comparisons have been leant towards such groups as Battles, Fugazi, Slint, The Melvins and The Oxes. Refusing to put their music in a hole with pigeons, the band instead allow all it to run all over the place, picking up the strangled vibrations of genre upon genre as it moves along.

Lurch
Lurch are a new three piece from Dublin, formed in February 2013, who play sludged-out heavy dirge rock, as melodic as it is heavy. Might be up your street if you like later Godflesh, Harvey Milk, or like the idea of an early Sub Pop band tuning to A or something. Lurch is the end result of three people who’ve spent a long time playing shouty hardcore in other bands rediscovering their collective love of pop songs, but not being able to get over their even bigger love of massive down-tuned guitars. Changing moods with the frequency many people change their jocks with, sometimes they’re slow and creepy, sometimes they’re faster but still slightly creepy. I suppose that’s what happens when you name your band after a character in the Addams Family though. They are, in all honesty, positively ookie after all.

Crowhammer
Crowhammer are a new drivy kraut rock outfit featuring members of The Jimmy Cake, The Bridges of Madison County and Chirps. They tore the roof off Bradley’s in Cork last week, no doubt they’ll do the same again for this!
