Jim Carroll’s On The Record blog will be hosting a night at The Twisted Pepper with eight bands playing as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes festival.

On The Record Presents will take place at the Twisted Pepper (Middle Abbey Street) on Saturday October 17. Acts playing on the night are Valerie Francis, Hunter-Gatherer, The Spook Of The Thirteenth Lock, Cities, Kyon, Yes Cadets, The Dying Seconds and The Holy Roman Army. They’re just eight of the some 99 acts playing this year’s festival. Running order and stage times to follow nearer the date.

Full weekend tickets for Hard Working Class Heroes cost €40, or you can pick up per-night tickets for €18.50 for admission to all six participating venues on any given night. Tickets are available from each venue on the night, from the Hard Working Class Heroes box-office at Filmbase or at tickets.ie (additional charges apply).

Also, aside from the bands playing on the night, you can catch Jim’s monthly Banter discussion upstairs in the Mezz. This month’s topic is “Meet the new media cats”, with Niall Byrne (of Nialler9 / State.ie fame) and Una Mullally (of The Sunday Tribune, Soundcheck and general UnaRocks infamy) discussing the likes of blogs, Twitter and their interaction (or competition) with the “established” media. That all happens at 8.30pm and admission is, as always, free – as long as you email to register first. Details on the Banter page.
