RTÉ 2XM has announced the addition of two new weekly shows: ‘Electric Honey’ with Edel Coffey and ‘Click Clack’ with Dudley Colley.

Every Monday at 7.00pm from 1 June Edel will bring you the very best in female music, playing everything from The Shangri-Las to Bat For Lashes, Karen O to Courtney Love, Dusty Springfield to Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney to The Breeders, Kate Bush to Kristin Hersh and much more in between.

Edel Coffey made her radio debut on the then pirate radio station Phantom 105.2 in 2003 and has also gone on to be a well-known face on RTE Two’s TTV as a weekly music reviewer. She also played guitar and sang in the popular, all-female rock band Medea and now writes for the Irish Independent.

Edel commented: “I’m delighted to be presenting Electric Honey on RTÉ 2XM, a place where music really matters. My love affair with female music began with Bananarama and just keeps on growing. On Electric Honey I’ll be playing the very best in female music, from new Irish artists like Valerie Francis to old classics like The Chiffons and everything in between. If you like women and you like music – and let’s face it, what’s not to love? – you’ll definitely like Electric Honey.

Wednesday nights are going to get a whole lot louder from 3 June as Dudley Colley brings you Click Clack from 10.00pm. There’ll be a huge range  of music from Stereolab to Slayer, Brazilian psychedelia to Beefheart and plenty of the newest underground non smash’s and alt-oddities from days gone by.

RTÉ 2XM went live on 1 December 2008 and currently broadcasts an ever expanding schedule with shows such as Dance Monkey Dance, Robotnik’s Random Rampage and Radio Clash with John Kelly.
