“For almost a decade now, Other Voices has played host to some of the world’s most exhilarating music-makers, showcasing vocal splendour, unparalleled musicianship and capturing on film scores of seminal live performances. South Wind Blows are delighted to announce that December 2010 will see the ninth instalment of this proud and ambitious music convergence. This year’s festival is being made possible through the support from specialist telecommunications infrastructure company Intune Networks.

In addition to being the key festival partner, together with Fáilte Ireland, Intune are also working with Other Voices to help ensure that this year’s festival is the most technologically advanced in the world. This year, Other Voices goes virtual, with live high definition streaming of the performances each night across Dingle, as the innovative Irish technology firm delivers a world first with its multi venue demo of its Verisma technology.

The four-day music event will be filmed between Saturday December 4th running through to Tuesday December 7th for transmission across a host of platforms, from RTÉ and international television to the newest cutting edge media. Four artists take part each day – in the morning and afternoon, weather-beaten recording crews and sleep deprived bands lurch from stranded ancient shipwrecks to the warmth of fine local hostelries, canning one-off acoustic rarities and informal chats with presenter Annie Mac. Each evening, the artists, and a handful of true music fans gather – there’s only room for seventy – between the four walls of what is possibly the world’s coolest miniature sound stage, St. James, for a feast of rock’n’roll’n’folk’n’blues’pop mayhem.

Already confirmed to make the trip to Dingle are the band of the year, The National, Welsh songstress Marina and The Diamonds and UK blues-folk duo Smoke Fairies. Key Irish artists appearing at St. James’ Church will include Cathy Davey, And So I Watch You From Afar, The Minutes and O Emperor. The glorious Richard Hawley will be curating one night of Other Voices and his guests will include Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, the wonderful Laura Marling and a very special guest who will be announced soon. More international artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

A very limited number of tickets will be made available for sale at 9am in Dingle on Saturday November 20th and on www.tickets.ie from 9am on Monday November 22nd. As per usual, daily line-ups will not be announced in advance of on-sale dates. Tickets are priced at 35 Euro per ticket. Those wishing to purchase tickets can buy a maximum of two tickets per night with a limit of two nights only. This will allow Other Voices fans a better opportunity to secure tickets.
