Quarter Inch Collective will host a creative showcase in Crawdaddy this Thursday as part of POD & Heineken’s Future Bright series.
Dublin independent record label Quarter Inch Collective will be taking over at the latest instalment of Heineken Music and POD’s Future Bright on June 30th and have invited a host of special guests to help mark the occasion.
The Chocolate Bar will play host to some of the finest ambient and experimental music in the country with the soothing waves of Davey Kehoe & Brendan Jenkinson (of How Will The Cope? and Cloud Castle Lake fame respectively), as well as the beautifully bleak Simon Bird, set to fill the room. On the Crawdaddy stage we’ll have a night of synthesizer goodness with Magic Pockets, The Last Sound and Angkorwat each bringing their own special brands of electronic emotion. There’ll be a whole host of other oddities and curiosities there on the night, with films, projections and art installations all set to help make this a unique and unforgettable event.
The Quarter Inch Collective is an independent label from Dublin concerned with the promotion and support of all the great music being made in Ireland today. Though a series of mixtapes, cassette releases, gigs and clubnights they’ve been trying to bring something new, honest and open to the table. Their first release was Quompilation No. 1 in January 2011 which featured 13 of Ireland’s best young bands covering some of their favourite songs of 2010. This has since been followed by No Fi, Lo Fi, Hi Fi, a collection of B-Sides and Rarities from legendary Dublin alternative-types, Estel and a split cassette from Ginola and Turning Down Sex called It’s A Disagreeable Thing To Be Whipped.
Future Bright; a collaboration between Pod and Heineken Music, sees some of the most exciting new music in Ireland and around the globe take ownership of the venue and curate their own night on the last Thursday of every month. The artists will be asked to take complete control; to put together a lineup or collaboration with their peers and create a totally unique live experience.
