Choice Music Prize 2016

Choice Music Prize 2016: Katie Kim, Overhead The Albatross, All Tvvins, Bantum, We Cut Corners & more – Vicar Street, 9th March

The live lineup for this year’s RTÉ Choice Music Prize Live Event has been announced

The award ceremony and live event takes place in Vicar St on Thursday 9th March. The acts in contention for the €10,000 prize fund – provided by The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) – and also performing live on the night are:

All Tvvins – IIVV

Bantum – Move

Wallis Bird – Home

The Divine Comedy – Foreverland

Lisa Hannigan – At Swim

Katie Kim – Salt

Overhead, The Albatross – Learning To Growl

Rusangano Family – Let The Dead Bury The Dead

We Cut Corners – The Cadence Of Others

Unfortunately, James Vincent McMorrow will not be joining them as he will be in Australia, which apparently is quite far away, plugging his nominated album We Move. We find this to be an acceptable excuse, so here’s one of his videos too.

In addition to the winner trousering a handy €10,000 to spend on recording, production or a new kitchen, all of the shortlisted acts will receive a set of steak knives a specially commissioned award.

The event will be broadcast live on RTÉ 2fm from 7-11pm, with a TV broadcast on RTÉ2 in an indeterminate time slot “approximately one week later.” Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster and are priced €26.50 including booking fee.
