well i spent a lot of last few years eating 500g per day of oatmeal - i love it !
my Gran's Oatmeal biscuits were a big favourite as as a kid.

after a change in medication last year i'm feeling much better and getting
best sleep for 15 odd years so i'm trying to lose some of 2.5 stone i put on
since 2013. got halfway so far.
i don't work and am only able to do this because i'm at home - writing
down what i eat helps A LOT.
also doing twice as much walking as last year.

i am notoriously utilitarian about what i cook - food ain't no art form !
so it's Soya beans and a boiled pot of mixed veg - that's all.
mostly Broccoli, Celery and also stuff like Carrots, Turnip, Green Beans,
Sprouts. also eat Spinach and Courgettes uncooked (and Celery).
i can't stomach Soya Milk - diarrohea time !

when i'm hungry or when i was sleeping badly the temptation
to eat turn to bread or oatmeal is HUGE.

Yep - it takes little carbs or protein to fill you up but a lot of veg.
"how am i eating so much but losing weight ?!" is the classic question.

unfortunately though it's a lot more fun and quicker to eat carbs.
originally without bread i couldn't have become a vegan but i got
away from it by simply not buying it.

how long i'll stick to keeping carbs low i don't know but
i'm heading in right direction so hopefully for a while yet.

might try Spuds and Lentils more often - rarely eat either.
good idea - cheers.

OK, but what to eat instead of grains ?

most days i eat about 150g of Oatmeal and drink 400g of Rice Dream (milk substitute).
i ate less than a loaf of bread in last four weeks.
but other than that it's all vegan unprocessed food.
actually i didn't eat bread for a year at one point and i still had psoriasis ...

i've had psoriasis since 1983 but it's not bad apart from stuff around my eyes.
but i think in my case it has a mind of of it's own.

because i've been eating it so long i'd assume oatmeal could be only
only possible culprit.

but with some will power i could ditch Rice Dream and eat even less bread....

I don’t know, I’m not the one that suggested giving it up completely. I was simply replying to blackgape that giving up grains might not be of the same benefit to eveyone else like it is to them, because we are all different people, with different digestive systems with different allergy sensitivities

what I eat never seemed to affect my psoriasis alright but I know
one person who cut out dairy and possibly gluten.
within a week her psoriasis was gone BUT she didn't stick with
it and psoriasis came back.

so I was wondering if it's worth replacing oatmeal for a month to
see if anything happens...
I doubt so... BUT at least I could then let it go that food was involved.

I mentioned this guy's book on the Seereyeasis thread. He firmly believes diet is a major contributing factor in psoriasis.

After all my years of looking for treatments I now believe he is full of shit (toxins).

He recommends you eliminate red meat, mushrooms, nightshades ( tomatoes and peppers) wheat, alcohol, nicotine etc.

My specialist firmly believes in the biologic medications that has become available over the years. They have had a life changing effect on me.

Great to hear that, no need to change your diet then?

last night I swore I'd go to the doctor over the pain in my elbow. This morning it felt fine, better than it has in weeks, so I didn't bother. Now it's sore again, I won't get a chance to see the doctor til Monday and I have two gigs to play tomorrow :(

Do any of you psoriasis sufferers have a sunscreen you can recommend? Trying to find something for my boyfriend online, has to be factor 50, and hopefully non irritating

Aw man I have migratory arthritis. Random excruciating joints.Great crack.

But good news I'm going to the hospital next week to get my ear looked at. Be sweet to have two good ears again

Shit buzz. Arthritis is in the post fro me to due to the Psoriasis. In fact I suspect I already have a mild touch of it.
Is there anything to be said for those copper bracelets or are they as much use as healing crystals?

Good news on the ears though Gaz

ongoing pain in my elbow has been diagnosed as tennis elbow. I hot a shot of cortisone in it earlier and took a Neurofen. Still sore though. And I don't even like tennis.

In other news I barely slept due to the pain of it and now I'm tired and irritable and just want to go home to bed

At my last appointment with my consultant (€140) I told him about the pain in my elbow. He ruled out arthritis and diagnosed tennis elbow. He gave me an impromptu shot of cortisone into the affected area.

Just got the letter from VHI . That shot cost €96.
