had to create a new Smart Playlist in iTunes.. my favs from that are

- Adam & Joe : Song Wars Vol 1
- The Donnas : Spend The Night
- The New Folk Implosion : ST
- Graham Coxon : The Golden D
- Marillion : Marbles
- The Notwist : Neon Golden
- Phoenix : United / It's Never Been Like That
- Slipknot : Vol3
- Sloan : Never Hear The End Of It
- The Streets : A Grand Don't Come For Free
- They Might Be Giants : Mink Car / The Else
- Ween : White Pepper

+ loads of other great albums. I've edited this list down quite a few times. There was a few Irish albums in there but I took them all out just to be on the safe side. You shouldn't feel too bad now Johnny, that's pretty mainstream.

I typed up a reply to this earlier but I was a bit embarrassed by not listening to stuff I haven't heard of, but now I don't care. I have a bad memory in some respects so there are undoubtedly albums I love that I can't remember at the moment:

Wolf Parade: Apologies to the Queen Mary
The Strokes: Is This It?
Joanna Newsome: Ys
Elvis Costello & the Imposters: The Delivery Man
Wilco: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Grinderman: Grinderman
Michael Knight: I'm Not Entirely Clear How I Ended Up Like This
Mumblin' Deaf Ro: The Herring & the Brine
Luke Haines: Off My Rocker at the Art School Bop and The Oliver Twist Manifesto
The Wave Pictures: Instant Coffee Baby and If You Leave it Alone
Vampire Weekend
The White Stripes: White Blood Cells
Magnetic Fields: I
Electrelane: The Power Out
Cause Co-MOTION!: It's Time
Radiohead: Kid A
Arcade Fire: Funeral

Now go fuck yourselves!

people i followed the most this decade were probably radiohead, the wellwater conspiracy, josh homme, this year was mostly the knife, ys by newsom might actually take the prize....though kid a is a very valid suggestion, as is ys, but both of them are shelvy albums for headphones on autumn evenings or being too monged to talk. i'd need to look at my computer at home a bit to figure out what the better social albums were.
