off the top of my head:

alex cortex - laconic. one of my favourite electronic music albums ever. totally timeless.

not strictly an album, but BOC's in a beautiful place out in the country is magic. blue vinyl is lush too.

both of these were from 2000, and i still listen to em regularly...

i'll post more as i think of em...

Off the top of my head TV On The Radio's last album is great so was Vampire Weekends debut as is The Crane Wife by The Decemberists or Wolfgang Amadeus Pheonix or Dead Cities, Red Seas and Lost Ghosts by M83.

Had to do one of these recently. Here's what I said:
Jesu - Jesu (Hydrahead)
Meshuggah - Nothing (Nuclear Blast)
The Bug - London Zoo (Ninja Tune)
Queens Of The Stoneage - Songs For The Deaf (Interscope)
Boris - Pink (Diwphalanx Records)
PJ Harvey - Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea (Island)
Angels Of Light - Everything Is Good Here/Please Come Home (Young God)
Autechre - Untilted (Warp Records)
Dälek - Absence (Ipecac)
Radiohead - Kid A (Parlophone)

In retrospect I can think of a whole bunch of other albums to replace any one on that list.

I've been thinking about this very thing myself over the last couple of months. I think it's a bit too soon to include anything from the last year or two (although I'm inclined to agree with aoboa about London Zoo), so maybe 2000-2007 is a better range to use. Off the top of my head, I'd include:

Monolake, Momentum (probably my favourite of the decade so far)
MU, Out of Breach (Manchester's Revenge) (and maybe her first album, too)
Le Tigre, Feminist Sweepstakes
Out Hud, Street Dad (and possibly their second one as well)
ZAUM with Andrea Parkins, I Hope You Never Love Anything as Much as I Love You
Fe-Mail, Syklubb fra Haelvete
Antipop Consortium, Arrhythmia
Autechre, Untilted (seems to be a popular choice)

And many more, no doubt.

I'm coming up with these based on which albums I find myself frequently in the mood to listen to. Which seems like a good criterion to use...
