It occurred to me this morning that for those of us who remember the Levi's 'golden oldies' ad campaign ; Sam Cooke's Wonderful World etc. , that those songs were only @25 year years old in 1985.
It would be the equivalent of 14 year olds today discovering the lost classics of Rednex and Coolio, Bur and Oasis etc.

yep, i always said 90's (my generation) was crap !
i was read an interview with some old Japanese 80's hardcore punks about
2015 or so. they pointed out that their music was now as old as rockabilly
was when they started playing.
that their efforts were considered a classic form still often copied was
so different from their youth.
but hey, if you're going to steal, steal your ideas from the best.
also when did oldies era of pre hippie pop music (e.g. Gene Pitney, Del Shannon etc.)
get laboured with the name 'oldies' ?
and 'dinosaur rock'... seems classic rock era (60's/70's) has been so
called when only a few years after it happened.
One thing I've noticed is being less interested & excited about acquiring "stuff". Like paying over the odds for out of print, rare-ish items CDs, records, films, whatever...i never really did much of it in the past, maybe a handful of times, but now I couldn't be bothered with it at all. It's just stuff.
General softening of my previous hatred of the Doors. I listened to their entire debut the album the other day and enjoyed it.
Groovy!
