My housemate, aged 66 or 67, has crunchy nut cornflakes before bed and he adds several spoons of sugar to it and lots of cream. Washed down with a refreshing coke. His wife lives in Germany and he will soon return there, apparently she will put a stop to this so he has to make the most of his time away and eat as much crap as possible.
It's really brutal when poor sleep becomes a regular thing.
in 2014 and 2016 in particular I barely had a day I didn't feel tired but from about 2004 to 2017 I had poor quality sleep and it completely curtailed my life.
if I had to go somewhere I would be terrified I wouldn't sleep well the night before.
often took hours to go to sleep / couldn't go back to sleep if I woke up / would wake up every 15-20 minutes etc. in the mid 2010's it was akin losing 3 or 4 hours out of each day due to tiredness.
when I changed medication I thought something was wrong when I could sleep on a bus or fell asleep watching TV as this hadn't happened since I was a teen. now I can go to sleep in a few minutes.
6 hours good quality sleep and I'm set to go again.
For all of my complaining about mad dogs and Englishmen over the last few days, I still have to work in the sun. And I really can't believe the sort of graft I thought I could manage 10 years ago in this sort of heat. I must have really got taken advantage of, because I must have been just running around like a loon.
Right now I'm working with someone a few years younger than me, and apparently it's her first time experiencing heat stroke. I did feel old giving her advice about to deal with it.
