Like not being a verb, it can't mean the same thing as said. It can, however, be appended to a sentence and be devoid of any actual meaning, like.
I mean it in the context of:
I was like, "Oh my god"
and she was like, "you so did not say that"

so really I should have said "was like" instead of "said"

i say 'like' all the time..it drives my parents up the wall..

people who say 'hanging' instead of hungover drive me bananas...as does banter..and the word 'tanorexic'..and people who refer to every type of mp3 player as iPods...

Before this list gets too long, we really should agree on the penalties that will apply to someone who misuses the English language in the presence of an irritable pedant. How about making them eat crisps from Stephen Fry's lap?

I'm feeling pretty fucking tanorexic these days. Might waddle down to Chartbusters later, get into a booth, close me eyes and pretend it really is July. remember July? Bees, ice-cream, smell of cut grass, sunburn..all that shit?

Cool word:

phantasmagoria \fan-taz-muh-GOR-ee-uh\, noun:
1. A shifting series or succession of things seen or imagined, as in a dream.
2. Any constantly changing scene.
