Greetings from Chicago, everyone.

As the guys frantically pack their bags and the crew load out on the eve
of Wilco's tour of the southeastern US (there is a method to our madness
here, at least weather-wise); we figured it was time for another update.
So here goes.

Wilco European bonus disc out in early March; will be simultaneously
released as enhanced content download

Wilco and Nonesuch will be re-releasing A Ghost in Born in Europe with a
5-track bonus disc in conjunction with the band's March tour. For those
of you who already own a copy of the CD it will also be available as a
FREE download via the Enhanced content on "ghost", meaning you'll be
able to access the download only with the CD in your computer drive. If
you purchased ghost on iTunes, it will also be available there as a
stand-alone item.

The track listing

Panthers
At Least That What You Said (live)
The Late Greats (live)
Handshake Drugs (live)
Kicking Television

All three live tracks are from the band's October 2004 show at the
Orpheum Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin. The two studio tracks are from
the Ghost album sessions.

A Gold Record for You?

As many of you may already know, Wilco recently received their first
ever domestic Gold Record (500,000 units sold in the US) for Yankee
Hotel Foxtrot. The band and crew rec'd very nice plaques which are now
hanging in assorted offices, living rooms, baths and closets in Chicago
and beyond. To celebrate the fact that Wilcoworld was such a huge part
of the success of that record and the band overall, we decided to leave
one of the plaques blank... meaning no name inscribed on it (yet). Which
is where you come in. We're running a contest (a random drawing if you
will) and we'll award said gold plaque, engraved with the winner's name
to one of you. Entry information is at: http://wilco.c.topica.com/maac9Wkabd0Zpa5VTcDbaeQyn8/

Speaking of Records

After myriad silly delays, we're happy to announce that the long-awaited
vinyl release of A Ghost is Born is now slated for March 8 on
Nonesuch/Rhino. As was the case with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, this will be
a two record, 180-gram audiophile vinyl set but this time we're
featuring a new gate-fold cover image (not the infamous egg). This
limited edition item is available for pre-order here:

The Grammys

Yeah, the Grammys are this week. The band and crew will be onstage in
Birmingham, Alabama that night. We got a good laugh a week or so back
when we saw in some magazine that Wilco was the Vegas-line favorite to
win the "alternative album" category. Our Advice: don't bet the rent.
But it'll be fun to see how it plays out, regardless.

Oh and...

The remaining shows on the late April/early May run should be landing on
the site this week. Check the site regularly, particularly if you live
in the Southwest. http://wilco.c.topica.com/maac9Wkabd0Zra5VTcDbaeQyn8/

Special thanks to our friends at Orbitz for their help with the New
Year's Eve contest. The winner, Lauren Wilson, got to see the Madison
Square Garden show and had travel and hotel covered (by Orbitz and
Nonesuch, respectively). We're formulating plans to do this again (to
Europe perhaps?) very soon.

That's about it for the moment. Happily listening to the music of
melting snow outside our windows...

Any sign of an Irish date on that European tour that Wilco speak of?

I could've burned down every inch of Dun Laoghaire to find the MCD prick that stuck them on the (P)Oxegen line-up and not at their own gig last summer. They were utterly lost playing for 40 minutes to a crowd of chips and chicken bone-sucking, drunken teenagers and stoned-for-the-first-time arseholes when we could have instead soaked up all the nuances and general brilliance that makes up a full Wilco show somewhere other than a poxy tent covered in the muck from the last Irish "festival" it was erected at.. Jesus. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking.

Oh wow, you really described it though didn't you. Still, it WAS a great set though. Will try to find out if they have an Irish date...I suspect they will as Jeff really likes Ireland. Fingers crossed.
