so yeah i managed to screw up DNS and make the site vanish from the internet for a lot of people this morning

that's the joys of DNS propagation for you. and if your ISP caches stuff for you...

anyway i haven't actually moved the site yet. still have some stuff to install on the new server before that can happen so it'll be tomorrow night at this stage.

everything else is gone off this server so it should improve performance while we wait. theoretically anyway.
