All 7"s tonight

Blue Oyster Cult: 'I love the night' 1977 (I love this song - BOC love vampires)

The Weekend: 'The view from her room' 1982 (English muso-ish smooth jazz-pop sound that Stereolab have been pillaging in latter years with a nice wonky edge; Alison Statton's post Young Marble Giants jaunt)

Diestinct: Ett gevar i min hand 1981 (Swedish new wave, nothing to get excited about but b-side has a nice REM jangle to it)

Brief Weeds: 'Songs of innocence and experience' 1992 (two future members of Fugazi make bizarre whimsical English post-punk soup, like something off Postcard or suchlike - odd)

Thee Headcoats: 'I wanna get fucked' / Lollipop: 'Go to hell' 1997 (Headcoats in scorching form; listened to Lollipop side once and have never felt I should return to it, no idea what it's like at this point)

Golden Palominos: 'Boy (go)' 1986 (After their dazzling first album GP turned into what sounds to me like a coke-fuelled, half-baked, overproduced 80's nightmare - a-side has Michael Stipe on vox, b-side has Jack Bruce, both are fairly wasted on this project)

Used to have that Brief Weeds 7" but gave it away. But then that's not surprising with my taste.

The Wilco - Whole Love Deluxe Edition
wilco-whole-love-deluxe.jpg

It's early days yet, just had one spin, but hasn't grabbed me yet. I listened to it after listening to their last few albums, possibly a bad idear.

The Haunting Presence caught my eye on a blog the other day and I had a listen, very enjoyable black metal. They're one of a bunch of bands making up the Black Twilight Circle who were apparently flavour of the month in 2009. I had a listen to some of the other bands since and they all seem to be fairly deadly - Arizmenda, Axeman, Blue Hummingbird On The Left, Kuxan Suum. I ordered a few tapes and then found out that they are notorious for taking months to send stuff out.

Currently listening: Todd Rundgrenn - Back To The Bars

Lemonheads-hate your friends lp
Mama's Boys-plug it in lp
Taxi-yu tolk tu mach lp
Giuda-number 10 7"
Band Of Susans-hope against hope lp

I'm in a mostly folky mood lately...

John Fahey - the transfiguration of blind joe death
Bert Jansch - Compilation thingy (think it's called Angie??)
Bert Jansch/John Renbourn - Bert and John
Sandy Denny - An Introduction to...(Island Comp)
John Cale - new EP yoke
John Martyn - Solid Air
High Llama's - Hawaii
Beach Boys - Smile

Well, this week I have been listening to BBC 6music constantly. Its fantastic.
