do you have a fave MAIDEN album ?
I have to go for the debut.
I wasn't a fan growing up and only started listening to 'em as an adult.
1980 was one the best years for music - I may have more LP's from '80 than any other year.

I was watching the Poly Styrene doc. and a list of Roxy gigs from March 1977 came up on a poster:
one night (10th March ??) IRON MAIDEN were supporting SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES

Brian Jonestown Massacre - S/T LP
Linton Kwesi Johnson - lots
Junior Marvin - Police and Thieves LP
Al Green - Explores Your Mind + i’m Stilll in Love with You LPs

Haha!!!! Steve Harris must have hated that

Id probably go for the first as well

Even though Killers has my fav Maiden song on it (Murder in the ..), it also has some well dodgy stuff. The last three songs I'd be happy to never hear again.

Loads of Eamon Dunphy's podcasts.

& two albums that sound like they were made in the early 70s but are new.

Manowar - Sign of the Hammer
Marillion - Afraid of Sunlight
Dio - The Last In Line, Dream Evil, Holy Diver Live
Weezer - OK Human
Haim - Women In Music Pt. III
Zeal & Ardor - Wake of a Nation EP
Marilion - Script For. jesters Tear (Remix, remix fail more like)
Wolf Alice - Blue Weekend, Blush EP
Drenge - Bloodsports, Autonomy EP
George Harrison - All Things Must Pass

I finally listened to All Things Must Pass after hearing about it for years. I needn't have bothered. It was EXACTLY what I expected.

i think all things must pass would have made an incredible single album. or at the very least he should have not bothered with disk 3 (which is shite imo). first two disks have some great songs, but two versions of isn't it a pity? certainly my favourite post-beatles release from any of them, but he should have reigned it in imo. less is more

i got an old stereo cheap recently with a cd player and i've been pulling out old cd's, some old favourites and some i never really listened to:
joni mitchell - mingus
sonny rollins - village vanguard 2
the fall - bend sinister
beastie boys - check your head

otherwise:
kid lib - DAT 034
fokus - on line
duke ellington & john coltrane - duke ellington & john coltrane
alice coltrane - lord of lords
john coltrane - a love supreme
burning spear - living dub vol 2
cocteau twins - aikea-guinea

...evening time bike rides listening to john kelly's mystery train on lyric

Dolly Mixture-remember this lp
Billy No Mates-duck duck goose lp
The Tubes-what do you want from live 2xlp
Cheap Trick-out to get you 2xlp
Anti cimex-the complete demos lp
Blaze-still nothing ever change lp
Moving Targets-humbucker lp
Zyfilis-lp
Oust-12"

Still recovering from the test of stamina that was seeing him live... he was still playing when I left... and the absolutely golden memory of him playing with Peter Brotzmann which pissed me - and no doubt a rake of others - rightly off at the time. Absolute mickey-taker. I really wouldn't push Peter Brotzmann too far. He's as old as the hills, but reckon he could crush you to death with a bear hug. Those frustrated stares. Still it was more memorable because he took the piss. Been tapping The Fast Show when it's on that comedy channel Gold maybe, and it was like something off those Jazz Club scenes. Priceless in hindsight. Legend. Zero fucks given.

Jonathan Richman - I, Jonathan LP
PJ Harvey - first 5 albums
Ron Carter Quarter - Piccolo LP

I’m not sure Haino knows how to take the piss. He’s living it! And him and the Brötz are good mates - they have 5 or 6 albums together and Haino sometimes plays in Brötzmann’s mega group Full Blast.
