The person who posted it thinks it's shocking that they had never heard of it before, it kinda is of course, but also surely the fact it isn't wider known, that it seems to have sank without a trace, is a good thing?

I dunno, I suppose it's complicated. The Cartoon Network etc used to revel in showing the "banned" racist cartoons from the 1930s and 1940s that were in their archives.

There's also the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia, where they've spent years amassing shit like what was in that Tweet, much of it far more recent than 80 years ago.
