the thing is, he’s a born tall-tale teller. and a classic unreliable narrator. he’s a totally amazing character, and I truly love his podcast. It has honestly got me through some tough times.
so when I see all this, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s telling a story that is more-or-less true, but having managed to accidentally enrage the hive mind, has now just decided, well, fuck it, no surrender, and is just embracing the role of internet villain for the next 48 to 72 hours
yeah, if there’s any lesson to this, it’s that twitter is the great flattener. the only acceptable modes are either mawkish cuteness or enraged riastradh. but then we knew that all alreadyWhatever his podcast is it'll have multiple times the listeners on the other side of this. I got a vibe of tall tales of it when i gave it a less tired read this evening.
some guy said something about allison pearson (horrible telegraph columnist) and she's threatened to get him fired from his job and now he's (understandably) freaking out
