maybe the Belgians want to claim Sam Bennett too ?

Wiggo is half Aussie.
apart from TT's, Wiggo had little or no road success until he was 29
(Sam's age) so maybe Sam can become a Tour winner in a few years !

i used to like Brad and felt sorry for him that he was in top five on TT's regularly
and yet won few of them.
he said the right anti doping stuff and seemed sound.

then on an early mountain top stage of the 2009 Giro Wiggo somehow finished
in the top 20 - a previously unhinted at performance in the mountains.
then even more strangely at the following Tour he finished 120 places higher
than he had done previously at the Tour.
it all went very sour after that for me.

remember Mark Scanlon beating Wiggo to win the Junior Tour of Ireland (1998) ?

now Sam should only need to finish the Tour to collect the malliot vert

Wiggins was born in Belgium as well.

hes a wanker and always has been. He loves a good troll and he only said what he said to get the reaction he did. We were the bigger eejits for giving him the satisfaction of a reaction.

His book (which I haven't read, nor ever will I read) is full of little digs at the anti-doper brigade, making claims about his own achievements which actually concur with what a lot of the tinfoil hat crowd do be saying (eg: his power output being practically humanly impossible).

Yeah, Qanon trolls are basically jumping into the mentions of any film critic who defends the film and accusing them of being pedos

I read a report on it this morning about GOP politicians saying that it's a disgrace and Tessa Thompson, who's actually seen the film, calling it beautiful and the director and important new voice.

Yeah, the CEO of Netflix had to call the director personally to apologise for the mis-marketing. It may have fucked her career though

forgot Wiggins is a Belgian.

i'm not bothered about what he said about Bennett - who cares.

a rare memorable moment in Wiggins media career was when he took
a liking to Hugh Carthy at the 2019 Giro and Eurosport kept interviewing
Hugh - he's dead right that lad is awesome.
ultra chillaxed bloke from Preston who is no more phased by the Tour
than a spin around Lancs.
they did a cool montage of Hugh interviews at the end of the Giro.
Hugh has no ego and probably little self awareness (in the best possible way).

in the 2000's Wiggins often spoke against doping much more so than
most riders of the era who were shit scared to say anything.
when he became successful from 2009 onward on the road, his hypocrisy
and backtracking was easily ridiculed.
probably he was always bit a Paula Radcliffe in reality.

Kelly always stays silent on doping if at all possible but when he forced
to say something it's always straight denial.

my big disappointment with Kelly has always been that he never even
thought of expressing any regret for racing in South Africa in 1975
(apart from receiving the resulting Olympic life bans).
he and Pat McQuaid got caught because a Rapport Tour stage finished in the
vicinity of were Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor were on honeymoon.
one of the journalists there following the actors on returning to London
asked a cycling journalist who were these 'English' riders with fake names.
McQuaid always seems to think the whole episode was funny.
that's having no self awareness in the worst way.
