Oh, I a blue tick journalist, am going to single out a complete stranger who's doing something fairly innocuous and orchestrate a woke pile on. She's protected her tweets now but she tweeted a paypal link to help her pay for therapy from the trauma of this. This stupid drama she started. Just absolute batshit behaviour.

That's actually a pretty interesting story IMO. I've been writing code for a living for 25 years and despise the culture of overwork (and have managed to have a decent enough career without working particularly hard myself) ... but still, the way that guy describes it, I can actually imagine how being in the thick of it like that could be fun, in a weird way

Fun fact - the guy who ran the development of IE6 is from Navan (his brother is married to my cousin)

It is interesting to hear about it. You kinda get the same criticisms in the GAA about pro level training and stuff but like, those people want to play sports, and win at them and will tend to do whatever it takes to make that happen, and if they don't there is a queue at the door of people who will. I get the criticisms of course, people should only have to run at the level maybe once, twice, but not as a fixture of an industry.

My only real issue with it is the idea that the way they won was the best way by virtue of the fact that it happened, therefore there were no other possible outcomes or methods. I mean, privatizing healthcare is the best way of doing healthcare if you are the head of the company charged with privatizing healthcare. His actual story there sounds like a pretty exciting thing to be involved with!

Oh dear. I've been following that kerfuffle a little, I know that guy's account from over the years, he's always getting in online scraps with people.

A lot of this stems from popular trad-cath-but-also-socialist commentator Elizabeth Bruenig saying she thinks those Protasia people are passing off a pro-child-abuse position as child protection, NAMBLA kind of stuff. I don't think it's quite as simple as that in reality but be damned if i'm digging deeper. Anyway, turns out he's their PR person or something, and I don't think people realized that before.
