loved this film. first time seeing it.
the pacing and structure at times felt like the da vinci code.
amazing score to the film as well

unbelievably bad, even for stone.
very little to like about it.
also it had some of the worst cinematography and cgi smoke ive ever seen.

i has something in my eyes.

awesomeness, although it kind of killed the Scorsese i loved. his first studio picture and although i've alot of time for stuff The Departed and Casino, he just wasn't the same after.

Gangs of New York and The Aviator are such fucking rubbish.

speaking of scorcese i watched goodfella's the other week and pissed myself laughing at the bit where pesci and de niro steal yer man's truck at idlewild airport.
when he comes back out to his truck he legs it into the diner to call the cops

"two niggers just stole my truck, do you believe that shit"

am i the only fool that wasted money going to see Dan in Real Life?

i saw it, but it was at a free preview screening.

i didn't really like it but i didn't think it was awful. however, all the scenes that depicted "FAMILY TIME!!" were super cringey.

the person i went to see it with loved it. there ya go.

Being sick means catching up on some very odd movies

yeah there was something of the Waco compound hysteria about that insanely happy family- which i think put me off the whole thing

I've seen worse but....

The premise was fine and someone like Woody Allen could've probably made it work but... too syrupy and unbelievable for me

Saw 'Charlie Wilson's War'.. Parts of it aren't bad (mostly the bits featuring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who has all the best lines as a hilarious pissed-off CIA guy, and is one of the few actors in it that seems comfortable\properly cast, unlike Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts with their dodgy wavering Southern accents). Didn't seem like they ever made up their minds whether it was supposed to be a satirical comedy, morality tale, or what, so there's a strange mix of tones that doesn't quite work.. plus too much flag-waving God Bless America type stuff and a preachy lesson-applicable-to-the-modern-situation that may as well have been spelt out in 40-foot neon letters. Like I said though, Phillip Seymour Hoffman is good!

they reviewed it on the View last night and the book sounds a lot more interesting.

Last coupla things:

Black Snake Moan - Pretty much a Christina Ricci wankfest, which is fine, but doesn't really make for a good film. The end was pretty balls aswell, someone should have got shot.

Fando Y Lis - Not much I can say about this besides that it was pretty neat.

Scanners - Finally got around to seeing this. Way more polished than Shivers and Rabid. Lead actor was fucking appalingly bad though. What the christ was Cronenberg thinking? Pretty decent overall.

Some Madonna biopic on TG4 - This was OK.

Knife in the Water - Second time seeing this. Didn't enjoy it as much as the first time for some reason. Soundtrack is pretty darn good.

Yeah, I've heard that the book it was based on is a good read, and has a lot of more salacious stuff they decided to leave out of the film (to avoid controversy, presumably). It's definately an interesting story, just don't think they got it right this time around.

Team America- fuck yeah.|..|
Cecil B Demented- havent seen this in few years. hasn't aged that well.

There Will Be Blood.

I'm fucked if it's not the best film i've seen in the past 2 or 3 years.

It's a pretty much a character driven flick. It's a relatively small cast for such a large film, so it's easy to focus on everything thats going on. The central characters play off each other perfectly. D.D.Lewis is non-stop the whole way through.

It's beautifully shot. And scored perfectly; really good soundtrack.

Production design's spot on too, detailing the practice of early prospectors n turn of the century america.

and you gotta admire P.T Anderson's timing. He's such a cheeky motherfucker.

I'm done gushing. See it.

Definitely going to see the above when it comes out here. I think it deserves the full screen to be viewed.

Watched Juno tonight, was great. Page's character was irritating as hell for the first five minutes where her and her friend spouted nonsense advertising and MTV slogans at each other ("fo' shizz" etc) but they recovered the script brilliantly after that. Bateman's character got a bit, umm.., awkward but it worked.. Despite those minor niggles everything else was perfect from the acting of the entire cast to the soundtrack.

watched The Nines the other night, its ok, great idea but not too sure if the director has managed to pull off his idea properly.
