What movie did you watch last night? (7 Viewers)

Johnny Mnemonic, not as bad as I was expecting it to be but definitely not as good as I remember it from when I was 14 or whatever. Better cast than I remembered.

never heard about moonage daydream until this morning. Checking for evening viewings near us and nothing doing. Shite.

Watched

Hell or High Water (2016) - Solid. Chris Pine guys, I'm talking handsome.

Trolls (2016) - Child with a broken collarbone, so this has been on twice a day at least for about 2 weeks. Despite having a couple of absolute knobs in the cast, it's brilliant.

Craze (1974)
A lesser known British horror film directed by Freddie Francis. Starring Jack Palance as a highly strung antiques dealer who worships the statue of an African god he keeps in the basement. An inanimate object with an insatiable appetite for blood sacrifice. All very predictable, but it's not bad.

Possession (1981)
A young woman left her family for an unspecified reason. The husband determines to find out the truth and starts following his wife. At first, he suspects that a man is involved. But gradually, he finds out more and more strange behaviors and bizarre incidents that indicate something more than a possessed love affair.
Don't really know what was going on here exactly but it stressed me out no end and then went off the rails a bit towards the end.

Black Sunday (1960)
A vengeful witch and her fiendish servant return from the grave and begin a bloody campaign to possess the body of the witch’s beautiful look-alike descendant. Only the girl’s brother and a handsome doctor stand in her way.
Decent old-school horror

The final programme (1973)
An absurd, quirky, far out maaan, futuristic "romp" based on a book by Michael Moorcock (great porn name) It's very of it's time. What's it about? I still wasn't sure three quarters of the way into it. Jerry Cornelius is a dandy, Jim Morrison look a like who's scientist father has just died. He is approached by this group of oddballs who want to get their hands on microfilm belonging to his father to complete his work and create a more advanced human being. The final programme. It's very much a cult film. Some cool psychedelic visual sequences but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Some of the comedic elements don't do it any favours. It veers into Austin Powers territory. It's ridiculous, but kind of fun. Might watch it again sometime.

just looked at the trailer. it's far out, man

Vengeance. BJ Novak is a writer who wants to be a podcaster, and gets a call from Texas that his girlfriend is dead (he only hooked up with her a couple of times) and the family want him to go to the funeral.
It's a fuckin brilliant film, really great commentary on contemporary American society, and it's quite funny at times, great stuff.

Crazy Heart ... A 2010 Start Is Born knockoff starring Jeff Bridges as an auld alki country singer who falls in love with the young and gorgeous Maggie Gylenhall ....and makes a balls of it ..nathch.

I loved it . Some great songs in it! And Farreller.

Big Green Valley
Other than the original title containing a word that starts with the letters "mtsv" this was an excellent bittersweet thing

Just went to see this in Cineworld there now. There was only about 10 people there but some of them were eating popcorn, the scumbags. The stench and the mouth noises almost drove me out. The film was ok, good idea, poorly executed.

Popcorn, the bastards, THE BASTARDS!!!

Today I saw Amsterdam. It's a bit hit and miss - in some ways it's really good, in other ways it's meh. It's almost as if it was written by two different people or something, I suspect studio interference.
Christian Bale is class in it, as he usually is. De Niro does a good shift too. Most of the actors are good really, it does suffer from the Remi Malek problem, like as soon as he appears you're like "oh there's the bad guy" which is shit.
Anyway there's bits of the film which are really great and about friendship and loyalty, these are the best parts of the film. Then there's the actual plot, which is overly dragged out – possibly the film's main problem is that it's overlong and I'm pretty sure it would have been easy to cut 20 minutes or so of filler.
It is quite funny in a few bits, and the soundtrack is pretty good. Apparently it's based on a true story.
Overall pretty good ensemble film that's let down a bit by over length.
Great to see Bale with another class role though, not as good as his Ford vs Ferrari turn but he's really a great actor when he's not threatening the lighting guys on set.
