Watched The Matrix trilogy over the last few nights. The original is still great but fucking hell, what happened with the sequels? I saw the second one in the cinema and hated it at the time. Tried to give it a fair chance this time and it’s possibly worse than I remembered. Classic George Lucas/Peter Jackson effect of too much success, money, and Yes Men leading to a complete watering down and destruction of a good idea. The third one is a bit better but that ending is bollocks. Can’t wait for the new one.
Is this new? Loved first reformed. Hard watch thoughThe Card Counter. Schrader doing Schrader - lonely men on disturbed spiritual journeys that end in brutal violence. Loved it. 9/10. This and his last film, First Reformed, are among his best.
i really liked it!That Shang-Chi film thing. Yet more Marvel drivel. In fairness the actors did pretty good here, but then you have Tony Leung and Michelle Yeoh so hard to go wrong with these kind of actors. And Ben Kingsley, even for phoned in shit like this he's still good, even when he's given fucking nothing to do.
The 'comedic asides' in the film are really terrible, just utter dogshit really. Just like the plot, story, and dialogue as a whole. Actually in fairness you get the impression the story could have been alright with the right treatment, but this is just more Marvel universe fucking shit.
Did I stay to watch the credits? Did I fuck.
Their every whim catered to by robot servants known as fleshapoids, the citizens of the future spend their time luxuriating in the sensual pleasures of food, sex, and sleep. One day, however, a fleshapoid named Xar (Bob Cowan) experiences the unquenchable desire to do a little luxuriating of his own. Rising up against his owner (Gina Zuckerman), Xar teams up with fellow android Melenka (Maren Thomas). Soon, the robot Bonnie and Clyde are battling for their freedom against the tyranny of scantily clad overlords Prince Gianbeno (George Kuchar) and Princess Vivianna (Donna Kerness).
A barrage balloon appears unexpectedly over a Bulgarian village. The startled villagers decide to knock it down with a fusillade. But the balloon flies off to the mountains. The villagers, armed to their teeth, set off after it.
