What movie did you watch last night? (11 Viewers)

Just back from seeing a back to back bill of Train To Busan followed by its 'sequel' Peninsula.

Train to Busan is just as good second time, really great craic well done zombie film with some great characters in it, especially the big wrestler-type lad. A brilliant film.

Peninsula is to Train to Busan what Battle Royale 2 is to Battle Royale. The nicest thing I can say about it is that it doesn't quite hit the laughable level of Battle Royale 2. Basically, you've seen Mad Max, yeah? And you've seen Escape From New York, yeah? Then you've already seen this movie anyway. 100% would recommend not bothering.

Disappointed to hear this. I thought the trailer looked great.

We watched Krampus again last night. Its a great little film

I watched Another Round the other day. Excellent

I saw 'Mank' in the Lighthouse, I think my 3rd physical cinema trip of the year.. A bit underwhelmed by this one, it's old school in more ways than one (being in black and white with a lot of nods to 1930/40s stylistic tropes, and very dialogue heavy) but it's always hard to depict the creative process in a way that isn't ponderous and the Gary Oldman lead character is such a self destructive prick that a lot rides on the film convincing you that he's a tragic genius of legendary wit and/or a decent person at heart, neither of which I really got. Having read up a bit on the real backstory they seem to have reached a bit both in terms of his level of credit for the Citizen Kane script and in terms of his socialist leanings, which seems to undercut a lot of the basis for the film. The dive into MGM classic era Hollywood was sort of interesting, having heard a good few episodes of 'You Must Remember This'..

Yeah I wasn't fussed on seeing that myself

Inland Empire. Saw this when it came out in the IFI hungover and it was the scariest cinema experience I’ve had in my life. It’s not one of his best but it’s an interesting experiment

I watched Animal Farm. No, not that one you monsters, the Orwellian one.

It's a slog trying to find something not-too-violent or not-too-dumb or not-too-serious.
To some extent this movie fitted the bill, but while it's rated "U" for kids, I would say it should be rated "R" for adults in existential despair. We spent the whole movie wondering whether we were the dogs or the geese or the sheep. We decided we were both Boxer.

Went to see possessor on Wednesday, I really enjoyed it, lots of Susperia vibes from the imagery but not in a bad way.

fuck me.

Is this the deal with trailers now? I'd like to induce a panic attack, but in a modern, clean setting.

I'm just gonna stick with old reliables about New Jersey shore in the winter, heroin, dilated eyes, and desperate women doing double dildo antics for baying businessmen. Like the old days.
