What gig did you go to last night? (6 Viewers)

Emma Ruth Rundle with support from Jo Quail in St Ann's Church on Dawson Street. I was worried about sitting on a wooden seat for two hours but there were comfy cushions on them. Jo Quail played 4 pieces on cello which were good. Emma Ruth Rundle played her new album in full and one old track to finish as there was an early curfew of 10pm. Apparently it was her first Dublin show and she was excellent. She was escorted to and from the altar for the show and said she was an emotional wreck at one point. Touring is taking a toll on her unfortunately.

It was great to have an appreciative audience with respect shown to the performers with no chatters and with no bar no folk making toilet and beer runs every few minutes

Saw her in the Button factory years at a Sargent House showcase. It was just her playing solo. Did a half hour set. It was around the time the first album came out. She was deadly

Don't know who was playing, but it was banging. It's interesting and alien watching DJ's and MC's performing. Jungle/D&B. They Performed.

Then there was an hour of happy hardcore, which actually gave me PTSD .

Then the Jungle/D&B kicked back in. Bruv it was massive etc.

Genuinely enjoyed tonight. And I did just stand at the back of the room and watch.

Channel One sound in Village Underground.

Absolutely one of the best gigs ever, made the whole birthday trip to London worth it. You would not believe how loud it was. It was by far the most bass I ever felt. And it never once got painfully noisy. After 40 years at it these lads have it figured out.

What a night.

This was some madness, you should have seen the earlier bits. And that was only at 19:00. It shall go on until 3am. However I have work in the morning. So noisy sleep for me.

Ah crap, can't attach a video. Basically it was a dude stripping off from his feathered costume to some kind of Madame costume and screaming into the mic. Really good. The night got more interesting after.

I went to Ryley Walker in the Pavillion in Dun Laoghaire as part of the folk festival - no promotion of it on here wtf - thinking I was going to William Tyler.

Support from Gwen Raymond. Pretty good. Seems like she really slashes at the guitar.

Tyler. Ryley. I must be losing my marbles.

He was good. Amazing rhythm section. I tried playing one of his albums tonight in a friend's house though off yt, but I had to switch it off and stuck on Davey Graham instead. Sorry.

Rushed back from work to watch my mate do some rapping stuff. Eminem -ish, but people love it, and it's good. Dashrox, if you're interested. His SoundCloud thing is worth your time I think. It's really funny. He didn't get the drums right production wise, but still.

Then had to wait a while for the main act, who are the landlords favourite band, Hungry Grass. Awesome. Irish trad stuff. We've had Dub, d&b, EDM, every kind of punk, grime, reggae, even happy fucking hardcore. Not enough metal as yet.

Its been a great weekend really, and there is still another day to it.

Only three fights that I know about.

I had no idea. Who was in his band?

Andrew Scott Young on bass, and Ryan Jewell on drums. Serious rhythm merchants.

I liked Walker's impish banter...to a point.

Yeah, obviously Foggy Notions didn't do a great job advertising the festival...only found out about it through word of mouth from a buddy that went to something the week before.

But I thought I was going to William Tyler...

It's on for a week more....all at the Pavillion. Check it out. Maybe someone can flag some of it in the upcoming gigs thread...Foggy obviously ain't arsed himself.

Finally got my metal. Fist. I think they're my favourite band now. They were one of my favourite bands before. But now, good god.

There was an all female moshpit, which just happened organically.

Absolutely amazing show.

The old nwobhm Fist??

Nope, just two dudes I know. They're brothers. I felt sorry for the earlier bands, because I, and other people were just waiting for Fist. And then people who didn't know them waited around to see what the fuss was about.

Nuke On Route are playing now. They're fucking great. But I'm now currently done.

More anon.

Jim Jones All Stars.

Out of this fucking world.
Also! Before these was

Slady .. who were excellent! And even better played Mama We're All Crazee Now..which was No.1 the day I was born. Nice bit of serendipity on my birthday weekender.

Large Plants .. Also brilliant, Folk Rock from lead singer of Wolf People and mates. Drummer was wearing a Nazz t shirt.

And the opening act was a young lad called Bruno who looked like he had his mam and dad in the band playing hi octane garage rock and were excellent also!

Then at Notting Hill I heard
Aba Shanti I Sound ..Amazing dub selecter
Rough But Sweet Sound ..Full on junglist/grime. Full on.
And some great Soca Sound System I can't remember the name of
