I've been tempted by acoustic basses especially the SIgma ones

Anything I've read about acoustic basses suggests they're not loud enough for any kind of noisy environment (e.g. a pub)

After saying this, Mrs. egg_ bought me (a Harley Benton) one for my birthday. Good fun so far (took it out of its box about one hour ago)

I'm having a hard time figuring out if their stock is entirely knock offs or factory seconds of other brands.

Some people swear by them and some say they are the worst . Id wonder about returns if i got a bad one.

yeah - if you had a 3-400quid to take a punt.
my sense is there a mix of factory seconds and outright knockoffs. the worst that could happen is that you'd end up with a Fibson with a bad paint job
