What Book Did You Read Last Night??? (4 Viewers)

The Overstory by Richard Powers. A long, rambling novel about man's relationship to nature, specifically trees in this case. Lots of beautiful writing, and detailed descriptions of trees to savour. I'm loving it.

I started reading some contemporary spy novels by Mick Herron based on an interview with him in the paper last week and you know what? They're great. Very Le Carre. Very Graham Greene.

Recently read the big hit thriller The Woman In The Window. Really liked it.

but read this article about the author earlier today. Absolute nut job! (article does contain spoilers)

Recently read:
A Moveable Feast - Ernest Hemingway
Here there and everywhere (My life recording The Beatles) - Geoff Emerick
Kevin Barry - Night Boat to Tangier

Peter Waring by Forrest Reid, a random selection from the tatty old Penguin section. Its really good, I will read more of this guy. It's about a young lad in the early 20th century from Newcastle county Down who fancies this girl he met in the summer. Then he goes off to school in Belfast where he develops a passion for opera and gets blamed for his cousin's stash of porn.

Read In the Heart of the Heart of the Country by William H. Gass and thoroughly enjoyed. Kind of felt like No Country for Old Men but older.

Just read Outline by Rachel Cusk. Really enjoyed and looking forward to reading more.

Nearly finsihed Oryx and Crake, the new Margaret Atwood. As someone who never really "got" Atwood before I have to say I'm really enjoying it.

Recently finished The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin. Had never read any of hers before and enjoyed it well enough, though I gotta say I'm enjoying thinking about it afterwards more than I actually enjoyed reading it
Read any Angela Carter?
