With the Fountains Of Wayne lp I listened to today. I was hoping for a full album of Stacys Mom..but it wasn't to be.
Wonderful sounding record but I the material was lacklustre.Bang of pastiche off it

Very disappointing

There was one other good one.

Some of it was awful fucking watery..and at the end it turned into Oasis

Amazing production though.Very shiny

I may be mixing those two up

They're both about booze being a wrecking ball

First album is brilliant. Radiation Vibe is genius stuff.
I remember reading the review in the NME aged about 14 and they were slating it saying it sounded like ELO and Supertramp and probably some other groups.
And now I fucking love ELO and Supertramp.

The days of indie snobbery.

I'm kinda fascinated with power-pop because it's got such a small audience but they're always so frustrated that no one else sees the brilliance of these bands (who usually have about 3 decent songs and 45+ lame Beatles for Sale rip-offs)

amazing song:

I was in an accident off my bike with a truck a good while ago - it was when this record came out, cos I had it on CD. 2003? 2004?
Anyway, I hit this truck and go flying. Hit the ground hard. And I can't get up. I'm trying to tell my legs to move, they won't. Arms, nothing.
I'm in some kind of shock or whatever. Just looking up at the sky as people start to mill around me.
But in my ears is blaring "STACEY'S MOM HAS GOT IT GOIN' ON. STACEY'S MOM HAS GOT IT GOIN' ON. ..."

I may not have listened to it deliberately since.
