No he's just thick. He exists in a world of pure reaction based on the situation around him and has nothing nothing planned that is not already in visual range. Everyone scrambles around him trying to read the tea leaves but there's nothing there and there never has been.

He's very good at it though, he absorbs the mood of the nation and then reflects it back. Similar to how Kanye West makes music imho. Living Zeitgeists but don't ask them to plan ahead.
I don't think he has a plan, i agree with you, i'm more in the school of his instinct will drive him into this sequence of events and it will carry people.

i do agree with @pete though, he's roughly on collision course with the supreme court, the one he stacked.

Biden has been calling for unity I suspect the statement to some extent reflects his knowledge of the political history of our own small island with our political figures who called for the same. Of course I maybe wrong but he maybe channeling of his inner Wolf Tone so to speak and that itself could be a possible inclination of where he might stand politically in general.

Fuck off. Good luck with your coronavirus, your opioid addictions, and your lifted trucks. And fuck off.

isn't the last ten days exactly what was expected from Trump ?
he's so predictable, the journos must be dying to wind him up
in press conferences but like their having jobs more.

just have a WWF influenced election next time, with a big forfeit if you lose.

''I'm gonna kick your ass sooo bad at the ballots your family will disown you and your wife
go back to Slovenia''.

''YOU LOSE YOU DIE ! YOU LOSE YOU DIE !''
or
you become destitute.
or
you are sent on a suicide bombing mission against ISIS

Yeah pretty much, sure he was calling fraud in 2016 when he won.

He basically has the cheat code to America: massive fame selling the product of himself as "the successful business guy" in a country that worships capitalism, fame, and the individual. As long as he never admits to any wrongs he can never be touched because he is everything a huge part of America stands for.

You'd think he'd be hamstrung by the religious part of America but they turned that into a money-worshipping cult ("prosperity gospel") years ago so they're cool with him as long as he gives them what they want, which he has. Fascinating stuff. So many people see through it but no one knows what to do about it.

I watched Fox News a lot 4-5 years ago. They wanted Rubio or Cruz to get the nomination and were shocked at Trump's popularity.
Fox wrote Trump off completely in the last two weeks of the campaign after the tape of him boasting about groping women surfaced.
But when Trump surprisingly won Fox immediately swung in behind him.
The closest thing to US evangelicals here is the DUP. Paisley studied in America didn't he ?
The fact a lot Christian ideas ( e.g. 'love thy neighbour' or Good Samaritan) are socialist leaning doesn't register with money grabbing preachers.
Also the US media is so segregated. millions for whatever reason take Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck etc. very seriously. Love thy neighbor my ass.

I haven't done any proper reading on it but a few people bring up that America was founded by extreme protestants who went there specifically to start an extreme protestant country and that's exactly what they did and it has never really gotten over that.

There is actually a growing divide in the Republicans between the Tucker Carlson kind of guys and the no-borders for capital Silicon Valley class, with the Silicon Valley guys probably going Democrat.

a friend of mine who is a doctor, told me about a book she read a year ago.
it's premise was that Americans were genetically prone to risk taking as their
ancestors had traveled vast distances in brutal conditions to start new lives.
the further they had traveled the higher the chance their risk taking mentally
was passed on (West Coast).

this might explain a few things and she thought the idea held water.
she's a GP but prone to psychoanalysing folks (or 'psychologicalizing' as I call it)

the puritans who founded the USA are a long way from selfish Ayn Rand types.
maybe if you pick and choose the worst elements of both you get toxic Trumpism.

if even the American rights value system is this hard to make sense of then the no
wonder Russians feel so misunderstood

in the long term the American right wing, male white crew are going to lose but
they are going down fighting.

the younger generation worldwide have grown up in the identity politics era
that has held sway for over a decade.
this is a huge threat to the white hard right and the alt right is their version
of identity politics. a knee jerk reaction Trump took full advantage of.

the problems with identity politics are very unintentional but I think they include:

- places less emphasis on class politics and anti capitalism. it looks at things
through the prism of identity above any other analysis.

- it's much more easily co-opted by corporations than leftist politics.
especially by younger tech entrepreneurs who grew up in a far more diverse world.
paying lip service to anti bigotry campaigns is a lot easier than wealth redistribution.
unless of course they bring in quotas for your job - then hell hath no fury like a white guy !

- American analysis of race doesn't always work in the rest of the world.
being Albanian isn't the same as being a white in America.
and being Haitian or Nigerian is different than being black in the USA.

- divisions in activism make it easier for white guys (the biggest group in the USA)
or corporations to organize to protect privilege.

having said this the lack of minority voices in activism was and is a huge
problem but some tactics are back firing.
listen to 1980's politically minded music - identity issues rarely came up.

I find it very hard to buy the idea that a that belief in American exceptionalism is genetics, especially since there's a few black millionaires up there now who believe in it just as much as their white counterparts. A fair few Americans I daresay went to America due to a little old thing called the Irish famine, they weren't prone to risktaking, just had no choice.

But yeah, just as there can be no anti-capitalism without anti-racism, so there can be no anti-racism without anti-capitalism.
