Pixies are not shit, less of this reactionary stuff on here. They're a very good pop-rock band with some cool guitar freakout bits who got way overpraised and beloved by the kind of lads who would have been into Dire Straits 10 years before.

Not that i'm gonna go to this gig or anything, get a grip, Pixies split up in 1992 or something and never reformed.
Dire Straits are shit too.

I have no idea why i'm so defensive about the Pixies. Maybe I just feel sorry for them... and their millions.
The last time we had a pixies 'discussion' on thumped I'd three great days with Trompe lemonde. I'm gonna by trying for tickets on friday.

I went to the first leg of the reunion tour and there was a guy beside me crying with happiness when they played 'head on'. As the youth say 'it was the purest thing'. I was also over the moon to see them having missed the first lap entirely.

Dire Straits are shit too.
They're still touring without Mark Knopfler. They got Chris Rea in on lead vocals & guitar.
They can't use the name for legal reasons so they tour as Dire Rea.

I don't mind a bit of dire straits. Knopfler is a tasty guitar player.

I would be defensive about them as well. One of my favourite bands. I still love the first 5 albums...but they have been going through the motions since the reunion. It happens to all bands.

I've no evidence to back this up but I'm pretty sure I came up with this joke.

I just accidentally listened to half the new pixies album.

I think I like it a lot.

Not like its going to make me 17 drinking cans again

Or not like discovering frank black and the catholics in south dakota in the mid 2000s

but its good, somewhere between those eras and more leaning toward bossanova than debaser.

Bossanova is fucking amazing you cowards.
