Trenches

Galway's finest purveyors of sludged-up, down-tempo hardcore. This is the band's first gig in Cork since they released their excellent self-titled album (currently available in Plugd Records). Live, their sound is heavy, immersive and intense in equal measures.

Council of Tanith

"Wrath of God" EP launch.

Fusing traditional doom prophecy with the traditional craft of heavy metal, Council of Tanith have traditionally dwelled on such matters as wolves and earthquakes. This has been foreseen to be the launch ceremony of the Dublin quintet's new EP, "Wrath of God", and one of their last before they follow their wolf-brethren into hibernation, to wake only whence the Crow flies home.

Another down-tempo Galway band and another EP launch. Rites churn-out warm, doom-laden riffs with a detectable undercurrent of sludge. There is a definite groove to their music as well, meaning you can rock-out. Slowly.
