Tourist Music? (1 Viewer)

Hi. Have an overseas friend staying with us and he has expressed a desire to go to a pub in Dublin where he can abuse his ears listening to Molly Malone and other such traditional ditties. As we are going to have to accompany him I would prefer somewhere not in Temple Bar (which rules out the Auld Dubliner).

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Cobblestone is great for trad but dunno if they have ballads sessions or what not, perhaps in the back room.
Peader Kearney's on Dame St. might be a good spot, been in there a few times and it's quite nice.

The Pale on High St do trad music some nights but their Guinness isn't great.

Brady's in Terenure have good tourist friendly trad sessions every night as far as I'm aware.

I like this idea If you fancy coming into town later you're welcome to join us wherever we finally end up.

The Brazen Head was good for food but it was crowded and it was difficult to enjoy the music. In the end O'Sheas Merchant Bar across the road from the Brazen Head came up with the goods, local elderlies playing the spoons and even dancing.

yep - sunday nights can be a sea of fidlers.. o' donoughues on baggot st on a sunday afternoon used to be good - somewhat more tourist friendly than hughes perhaps..
