Tour de France 2007 thread (1 Viewer)

I thought Ben Healy was wearing a huge helmet at the TT nationals because he has long hair but they were all wearing them at the Tour yesterday. they were huge - even bigger than helmets from over 30 years ago

Great pave stage at Tour to Arenberg town today. the last mile was faave moment of the Tour so far - Wow!
Hilly stage of the Giro Donne to Bergamo on TV Eurosport now.

The 1961 Giro winner has died;
Arnaldo Pambianco (1935 - 6 July 2022). Arnaldo's wife died recently according to a statement by fellow Romanga Davide Cassani.
Pambianco was a pro from 1958-66 and beat Jacques Anquetil to claim victory in the 1961 Giro without winning a stage. He was also 7th in both Giro and Tour in 1960 and took his only Giro stage in 1963.
Pambianco spent the later days of his career at Salvarani, helping both Vittorio Adorni win the Giro and neo pro Gimondi win the Tour in 1965. He later worked as a DS w/ Salvarani in the late 60's and in the 80's w/ Arisotea.

I presume I’m not the only one whose keeping up with the tour by having each stage’s official cheese on the day?

the combativity prize (daily most attacking rider award for a trier, rarely someone won - unless it was a 150 km solo break or something) was sponsored by a cheese company in the late 90's /early 2000's.
so at the start the next day, the rider would be weighed and Stephen Roche would present them with their weight in cheese which the rider would usually give to a local charity.

That is the pinnacle of Frenchness right there.

they did that a few years ago. Froome came off and broke his arm. Lars Boom won it in the end.

I'm completely detached this year. cyclingews.com has gone subscription and I can't be arsed finding another site to find shit out on.

And also the main lasts are all bunch of fucking frauds so fuck them. They can have their shitty race. I'll stick with me Ras.

I normally watch Lantern Rouge's race breakdowns on YouTube. He seems to have got the Tour this year, or snippets at least.

no disputing this.
but if you keep deleting your browser history, cyclingnews won't block you. I do it several times a week and they don't recognise it's me visiting.
I just watch cycling for the craic now don't take it to heart. I used to spend x4 the time following cycling in the late 1990's and 2000's. can't be bothered following social media or getting CGN subcription.
doping must be worse than ever and it's just accepted - Hein Verbruggen come back from the dead!

Women's Giro is very good although only 3 riders can win final GC at this stage.
great breakaway win on first mountain stage.
