MICHAEL KNIGHT
Having received an avalanche of critical bouquets for their limited release debut Youth is Wasted on the Young, Michael Knight return after a two-year absence with the double CD I'm Not Entirely Clear How I Ended Up Like This, the logical progression in their ongoing musical argument that influences as diverse as Bach and Bacharach can make compelling bedfellows. Imagine a Motown Modest Mussorgsky backing Jens Lekman and, despite the shit directions, you're halfway there. Gigs from Berlin to Dublin with The Essex Green, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone and many others have just been mere appetisers for their set at the Buffalo Bar.
"Why Michael Knight aren't already huge is both baffling and beguiling; but sooner or later these songs will be discovered. I may as well say it in advance, then; I told you so". SoundsXP

Lucky london f*ckers

I've been meaning to start a Michael Knight thread seeing as the new album is out soon (according to the Road Recs mailshot last week).

This is long overdue. The last album (Youth is Wasted on the Young) is one of my favourite albums ever. I never get tired of it. And the new songs sound every bit as good. Coronation St in particular is amazing.

Looking forward to this. And hopefully some more shows....in Dublin.

anyway, there I've said it.

Edit: I've just noticed Soda Fountain Rag are playing too. They're Swedish, right? I recall them playing just before MK at the HWCH last year. They were pretty damn good too.

Just discovered this guy recently. Brilliant stuff, I am hooked on the songs from the new album on MySpace and shall be buying the album.

a dedicated thread to follow...soon.

still waiting for that thread ybic

got the album yesterday. Sounds great so far. The packaging is most impressive, and I don't think I've ever owned an album before where there was a second disc containing an entirely instrumental version of the album. Mad.

everyone should buy this, if only cos he mentions thumped.com in the sleeve notes (though thats not the only reason).

Finally, my Yes Boy Ice Cream karaoke party can happen!

Yes!!!
